The ICMJE updated the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals. In addition, the ICMJE published a separate editorial highlighting the dangers posed by predatory and pseudo-journals, "Predatory Journals: What Can We Do to Protect Their Prey?"
New updates to the ICMJE Recommendations include guidance on the following topics:
- Predatory or Pseudo-Journals (Section II.C.1.a)
- Timeliness and Responsiveness and Diversity and Inclusion in the journal peer review process (Sections II.C.2.b and II.C.2.e)
- Corrections and Version Control and Scientific Misconduct (Sections III.A and III.B)
- Authors' responsibility in the accuracy of cited References (Section IV.A.3.g.i)
To assist in identifying where changes have been made, an annotated PDF is available. The current, official PDF of the ICMJE recommendations may be downloaded at www.icmje.org. Annotated versions of earlier updated recommendations are available in the announcement of the respective updates in ICMJE | News & Editorials.
